Our Practice Manager
Our Practice Manager, Trisha, came to us from the Hampton area, but moved to the Roanoke Valley in 2004 with her husband, Jason, and her three sons, Shane, Chase & Seth. Trisha is excited to help the already Green Conscientious Hanging Rock Animal hospital to continue to move in the direction of helping the environment by implementing a paper free system. Her goals for our hospital include attracting the best staff, maintaining a family atmosphere and to continue to provide the highest level of quality care for the animals of the Roanoke Valley. Trisha has spent the last 14 years in animal welfare and is extremely grateful for the lives she bettered along the way and all of the people she has met. When not at work, she enjoys reading, hanging out with her family and pets (4 dogs: Bear, Gia, Sophie & Max and 3 birds: Tony, Squawk & Indy), and watching sports with her boys, or watching her boys play sports! Trish, who you will find empathetic and well organized, is excited for the vision she has for Hanging Rock Animal Hospital!
Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians
Hi! My name is Allyson and I joined the Hanging Rock family in 2008. I’ve worked in the veterinary field since 1997 and have a degree from Blue Ridge Community College. My interests in veterinary medicine include behavior, client communications and nutrition. Outside of work, I spend my spare time on search and rescue work with my dog. I am also licensed as a wildlife rehabilitator by the state of Virginia and the Federal Government. My family includes Jeff, my husband, as well as Sampson, Sid, Emily, and Pete, our beloved pets.
Keri joined the Hanging Rock team in 2007. She received her veterinary technician license in 2018. Congratulations on all the hard work!
Kaitlin, who started with us the Spring of 2020, is one of our Licensed Veterinary Technicians, and grew up in Kentucky! Previous to the Veterinary field, she has had experience caregiving for the elderly with dementia. Kaitlin has always loved animals, especially cats, and considers herself a cat-whisperer! She has a cat of her own named Zaricho, a short haired grey tabby. She enjoys her job the most when she's assisting the Doctor in surgery, monitoring the safety of our patients under anesthesia. Kaitlin loves her job, knowing that what she does every day makes a difference in the lives of animals and their owners. When she's not taking care of animals in the hospital, she loves reading, swimming, camping and being a mom!
Our Veterinary Assistants
Our Veterinary Assistant, Courtney, has over 6 years’ experience in animal care. She is currently in school, working toward becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician! She lives with her fiancé Kaleb and their fur children: a Goldendoodle named Murphy, and two Golden Retrievers, Finley and Honey, and a cat named Oscar. She has been with us since fall of 2019 and her calm and patience demeanor shines at our Fear Free certified practice.
Jessica, one of our awesome Vet Assistants, came to us from Hudson Falls, NY. Jessica has attended the Animal Behavior College and is a certified dog trainer. She has worked in the animal field for over 15 years and plans to start the Vet Tech program at Penn Foster in the near future! In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband of 10 years, Mike, and her 3 children: Christopher, Ryker & Addi. She also enjoys swimming, tubing, hiking, playing outdoors and tending to her backyard chickens: Pearl, Vader, Ralfe and Sophia. She also has a Golden Retriever mix named Woodstock, and a Beagle mix named June Bug. What she loves most about her job as a Veterinary Assistant is helping people and animals, and making a difference in their lives.
Sarah Belle has over 4 years’ experience working in the veterinary field and caring for animals. She was born and raised in Alleghany County, and has had animals her entire life, from horses to rabbits, to cats and dogs. Sarah Belle loves to work at Hanging Rock Animal Hospital because of all the great animals and people she is blessed to work with! Knowing that she gets to help an animal feel better, makes her heart happy, and she treats every animal like it's her own. When Sarah Belle isn't working, she's swimming at the and her creek with her 3 year old son, Weston, her 5 year old German Shepherd/Husky, 2 year old German Shepherd and her 3 year old yorkie. She also enjoys many other outdoors activities including riding four-wheelers, camping, fishing and hunting!
Client Service Representatives
Annie is our Office Manager and helped Dr. Honeycutt open Hanging Rock Animal Hospital in 1996. Annie has done every job, including helping put shingles on the roof! Currently, Annie performs a million office tasks to keep the hospital open so we can care for our awesome patients. Annie is married, has children and grandchildren! She also has 2 dogs and 5 cats.
Penny has worked in the veterinary field for 15 years. She has 3 dogs and 1 cat, but is pretty sure it should be the other way around, as she is the "cat person" at HRAH. Emma, Jasper and Bindy love their little kitty, Mimi. Penny is committed to providing positive interactions and a fear free experience to clients and patients. She has lived in Virginia, with her husband since 2015, and enjoys her position as a Customer Service Team Leader.
Amanda has loved animals for as long as she can remember! At age 4, she started riding horses, and her love for them has never stopped! When she was old enough to work, she started working at horse farms and pet stores. Almost 20 years ago, she started working in the veterinary field. She is married and has 3 children, ages 6 to 11, 3 cats, a Pitbull named Erzsébet and a Blue Heeler named Bunta! Aside from riding horses, she also enjoys reading, camping, hiking, backyard chickens, gardening and hanging out with family.
Born and raised in Craig County, Shianne came to us during the Summer of 2018. We enjoy the kindness that she brings to Hanging Rock Animal Hospital with her sweet personality. Previously she had been a cashier at her home-town grocery store, and the locals miss her friendly presence! Shianne has an associate degree in science, and has always loved animals. She has two dogs of her own, a boxer named Luke and a sheltie named Leo. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé Jamie, camping and just being outdoors.
Mikhala, one of our friendly Customer Service Representatives, was born and raised right here in the Roanoke valley! She has a beautiful 2 year old black Lab/Great Pyrenees mix named Kona, who enjoys hiking with Mikhala, their favorite pastime! She previously worked at the Roanoke Valley SPCA, where she was an adoption & enrichment counselor, working hard to place homeless animals, with the best family to meet their needs. Her favorite part about working at Hanging Rock Animal Hospital is working for a fear free certified clinic, which is truly rewarding to be able to witness the bond being established between our medical team members and our patients.
We welcomed Loretta to our CSR team over the summer of 2020. After working at several shelters in New York, and managing an equestrian center, she realized how much she truly loves to help and care for animals, and has 6 cats and 2 dogs of her own! She came to Virginia 12 years ago from Long Island, NY, and while still in awe of the beauty of the surrounding mountains, she still misses the beach. Loretta also has experience and passion working with senior citizens, helping them remain independent and stay in their own homes. Working two jobs doesn't leave much free time, but when she can, she loves spending time with family and friends, both 2 and 4 legged.
Haylee, who is one of our cheerful receptionists, is a Liberty University graduate, born in Roanoke, VA. She is married with 3 fur-children: Lola Lou a Bichon/Shih Tzu, Sassy Boo a Yorkie and Mya Sue a German Shepherd/Malamute, who are all spoiled rotten. She truly enjoys working at Hanging Rock Animal Hospital, and she loves that she gets to be part of the process of keeping animals healthy, and helping those in their time of need. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her family and play board games and cards.
Animal Care Attendants
Autumn, one of our compassionate animal care attendants, was born and raised in Craig County. She is currently attending college, ambitiously working towards her future as a licensed Veterinary Technician. Before Autumn came to Hanging Rock Animal Hospital, she has had experience working cattle and horses on a friend's farm. She loves working with all animals, both small and large, as both come with their own unique perks and challenges! Autumn has an Australian Shepherd mix named Nash, a Bichon Frise named Marley, a rescue goose named Buttercup, and a Russian tortoise named Sheldon. She loves that Hanging Rock Animal Hospital provides such a great work environment where we all work together as a team to make sure each and every animal we see has the best experience possible. Whenever she gets the chance she can be found hiking with her Aussie, swimming, drawing, fishing and working on her friend's farm.
Mel, who studied nursing and biology at Radford University, brings fun and wit to our team of Customer Service Representatives. It's obvious when you meet Mel that she came from a background of experience with coffee (barista) from the energy she shares with the people around her! Mel was born and raised in the Roanoke Valley! At home Mel has 2 cats, Mortimer and Ava, a snake named Casper, and 2 rats, Maka and Crona. In addition to her human brother and sister, Mel has 2 Shih Tzu brothers, Edgar and Louie. Mel loves animals of all kinds, especially bats and frogs, but she is a cat person at heart! When she is not working, Mel loves to read and frolic around the forest in search of little treasures. Her favorite part of working at Hanging Rock Animal Hospital is learning new things, and snuggling all of the cats she can get her hands on.
